About Dneprodzerzhinsk
Dneprodzerzhinsk is a city, east central Ukraine, a port on the Dnieper River. Located in a region rich in coal and iron ore, it is a major industrial center, producing iron and steel, machinery, cement, and chemicals. The city was founded in the mid-18th century as Kamenskoye and received its present name, which is also spelled Dneprodzerzhinsk, in 1936. Population (1998 estimate) 275,000.
