About Cagayan de Oro City
Cagayan de Oro, chartered city, southern Philippines, a port on the northern coast of Mindanao island, capital of Misamis Oriental Province. Cagayan de Oro lies at the mouth of the Cagayan River on Macajalar Bay of the Bohol Sea. Steel is manufactured in the city, and it is a trade center for the agricultural Cagayan Valley. The city is also the site of Xavier University (1933). Population (1999 estimate) 486,652.
