About Anapa
Anapa is situated in the south-west of Krasnodar Krai, at the turn of Caucasian foothills and the steppes of Tamansky Peninsula. Rocky shores and plateaus, dunes and classical beaches, relic juniper forests and moon views of knolls, the spirit of ancient times and bright colours of the present - all this is a resort Anapa, which extend for 80 km along the Black Sea coast.
The total area of the town is 982 square km, population - 64,700.
Anapa was a Turkish fortress before 1829. It was raised into the status of city in 1846 and became a resort city in 1866. Anapa is the sunniest resort on the Black Sea Coast. The amount of sunny days here goes up to 280 a year. The mean annual temperature is +11.9oC, sea water +15.5oC. Anapa's mud meets the worldwide recognized medical and cosmetic standards.
As one of Russia's favorite tourist cities, Anapa has comfortable hotels and recreation and transportation facilities.
The main places of interest are the kept Gate of Turkish Fortress, the Archeological Museum - a reserve with rich assembly of antique subjects.
